JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE!!!

He was the hero of that repeated daily scene…Climbing the stage with his untidy hair and clothes, deep and rainy eyes…His weak body receives a lot of strong shots from the teacher who leads the morning assembly of students. None around could read between the lines written on his small rough face!
Faddy…accustomed to both stealing and punishment…His silence was impressive…He could be as he is and defends himself as often!
One day boys who are in charge of discipline at school were pushing him towards the teacher…he didn’t like the way they treated him.. Still influenced by the environment of jails where he spent four years!
-leave him! The teacher ordered them
A lone with the child in his office…
-what have you committed?
Again the child moved no lips!
-feel free with me …I promise to protect you regardless what you have done!
I stole a piece of bread from my mate!
He said quietly but challenging!
- why did you that?
- I was hungry! You are the only person to ask me a such question!
Hungry?!!! The teacher was deeply shocked and he decided to follow his problem as a personal case!
-but you can bring your piece of bread with you like others.
A gloomy look mixed with sorrow and he kept silent!
The teacher felt that a black cloud was moving slowly round the child's busy head!
He repeated his question.
-I cant bring a piece of bread since my fathers wife closed to close the kitchen and hides the key!!!
Deeply the teacher involved in the same gloomy atmosphere. He decided to follow this case inside and outside the walls of school!!!
The most majority of students where astonished when they saw Fady among the discipline committee students at school two days later!!!
But the teaches astonishment was greater a week later when they saw Fady/the bread thief/rushing into their room, carrying a golden watch in his small hand and shouting:
-Teachers! I found it during coming to school this morning!!!

What an impressive story!!! I am sure there are MANY children who don't have what to put in their mouths before school ... alone this knowledge makes my heart ache! Children are children ... and deserve a childhood - EVERYWHERE on this planet!

Thanks so mcuh for this LOVELY though VERY IMPRESSIVE story!
Keep up the GREAT work!!!

You write so well :) I wish you could write more in English. There are people in Israel, myself included, starving to get to know Palestinians better and build bridges of hope with the people living in Gaza.

Stay safe in all the mayhem. Ma'aa Salame (literally!)
